ZEN Industries Granted FBE Certification

Kimberly Zenisek

September 13, 2007. ZEN Industries Inc. announced today it has been granted FBE (Female Business Enterprise) Certification.

"Certification enhances our company's exposure to prime contractors and subcontractors, but also opens doors to a variety of programs that provide technical assistance," said Kimberly Zenisek, President of ZEN Industries Inc. From the Office of Government Contracting on the Federal level to many city and municipal agencies and administrations, organizations at all levels welcome and support the efforts of certified Female Business Enterprises to grow and prosper in the marketplace.

As President of ZEN Industries, Kimberly Zenisek actively plays a major role in the daily operations of ZEN, including the manufacturer's adoption of lean manufacturing techniques and advanced material handling processes.

"The more we can learn from experienced contacts at all levels," explained Kimberly Zenisek, "the more we can benefit our customers by increasing productivity, maintaining fair prices, and assuring quick delivery and great customer service. FBE status is just one tool in our ongoing strategy to expose ZEN to the best available training, techniques, and business opportunities. At ZEN Industries Inc., we find ourselves growing every year, and it's exciting to be a part of manufacturing growth in the U.S."

ZEN Industries Automates HVAC Bidding Process

Modern industry hates waste. At ZEN Industries, Inc. after virtually eliminating waste in material production, we looked for ways to increase efficiency even after achieving perfection on the shop floor.

Our next challenge involved the bidding process itself. In the ductwork industry, between the efforts of the General Contractor, HVAC Contractor, and HVAC Fabricator to win any given job, the estimating process often ends up being duplicated at least once, adding thousands of dollars in costs on up the line.

Wouldn't it be more efficient, we asked ourselves, if the estimating process were streamlined? Instead of take offs being done by the mechanical contractor and the HVAC fabricator, with complicated variables on a variety of ductwork pieces going through multiple data entries, all with the potential to introduce error, wouldn't one clear step be better?

Today, ZEN has the ability to partner with mechanical contractors in a way that helps them bid on more jobs, in less time, and with greater accuracy. By eliminating the extra estimating that used to be necessary, costs are lowered and more bids are won.

Through the use of an automated process, ZEN allows select contractors to integrate ZEN's HVAC fabrication pricing with their own computer estimating software. Now, in one step, the mechanical contractor can generate a reliable quote as well as data able to be fed seamlessly into production, direct to ZEN's coil lines and plasma tables.

By providing license keys for select contractors to enter data directly into the Quote Express™ software used by ZEN Industries, time and stress on both ends is reduced, with additional improvements in accuracy of production and turnaround time.

For smaller contractors, ZEN still offers in house estimating and contract estimating services as needed.

Seam Sealant Added to Coil Lines
and Roll Formers

As of August, 2007, ZEN Industries has added another capability to improve manufacturing efficiencies and add value to our customers. A new sealant pump system has been added to automate the labor-intensive process of adding sealant to the Snaplock and Pittsburg longitudinal seams.

This pump system will work with both our coil-line and fitting rollformers, so our shop employees will no longer have to hand seal these seams saving an abundance of labor. This new feature will allow us to increase our manufacturing efficiencies and provide a better quality seal vs. the previous method of applying this sealant.
